The bites of mosquitos, chiggers, fleas, and other insects can cause redness, swelling, itching, and even systemic reactions. Herbs and herbal oils can help repel insects and prevent bites.
Essential oils of herbal insect repellents can be diluted in a light fixed-oil base (apricot seed oil, etc.) and applied liberally. Eating fresh garlic is also reported to reduce the attraction and subsequent bites of insects (and vampires).
