An aromatic tree in the Cypress family growing to sixty feet with small, scale-like leaves that are bright green above and yellowish-green below, with small yellowish flowers.

Affects
Thuja is an effective expectorant and immune stimulant, and is taken internally for bronchitis and used as a steam inhalant for laryngitis. It acts as an antiseptic and astringent to the bladder and is used for atonic and weak bladder, as well as for prostate imbalances, where it works not to shrink an enlarged or inflamed prostate gland, but to deodorize and help correct incontinence associated with prostate imbalances, especially among the elderly. Thuja oil is applied externally to remove warts.
Thuja occidentalis has a taste of BITTER, SPICY and a temperature of WARM.
Cautions
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Not for long-term use. Thuja contains thujone, a known mutagen. Do not exceed dose recommendations; use in small amounts only.
